Stock Throughput
What's covered by a Stock Throughput Policy?
Stock throughput policies (often referred to as cargo) provide robust coverage for your inventory at any point in the supply chain. There are two coverages found on this policy:
- In-transit
- At location
Because most claims happen at loading & unloading, this policy is an important component of your insurance program as it eliminates that gap in coverage. The valuation is more favorable than a standard property policy as well as it covers your finished product at selling price vs. replacement cost.
When should a company buy a Stock Throughput Policy?
This can happen at different times for different brands. The more robust your supply chain is, the more you'd like to consider this. At a certain point, it may be more cost effective as well, which is why it's important to look at the insurance program from all angles.
